This dossier presents basic information about the Catalan agricultural sector taken from an official set of statistics and which evaluates its situation, monitors its evolution and compares the data with that of other regions. The data provides evidence of the modernisation of Catalan farms, which are seeking to become more competitive, either by making the farms bigger or by specialising in more profitable products. These circumstances have led to changes in the ownership of land and livestock, in the legal nature of those in charge of operations, in the type of workforce and in the farming methods used.
