Mapes de les agrupacions censals de Catalunya (AC)

Cover

This publication contains the territorial boundaries (geometries) of the census tract groups for the years 2014-2023 in Shapefile format.

Each census tract group is made up of a set of territorially whole contiguous census tracts with similar socioeconomic characteristics. Census tract groups are territorial units with a balanced population of 9,000 inhabitants on average, ranging between 5,000 and 20,000 inhabitants in size.

The census tract groups are available in Shapefile format for each year from 2014 to 2023. The number, definition and denomination of the census tract groups are the same for the whole period, but the sections change each year due to additions, removals and changes involving the census tracts' territorial boundaries. Consequently, the territorial boundaries of the census tract groups and their geometries also change.

The territorial nomenclature for the census tract groups is Idescat's own creation for the production and dissemination of the Small Area Socioeconomic Index (IST)and can be applied to the statistical data sources that have information disaggregated by census tract. In addition to the IST, Idescat publishes by census tract groups the population of the Municipal Population Register classified by sex, and the Educational Attainment Statistics..

For further information, you can consult the Territorial and entity codes section and the web page with the territorial nomenclature for the census tract groups.
