EULP Survey on Language Uses of the Population

The main objective of the Survey is to learn about the first language, language of identification and habitual language of the population aged 15 years and over in Catalonia. It also aims to find out the uses of Catalan and other languages in the interpersonal sphere (or domains of use) of this population.

Other objectives of the Survey are to obtain information on knowledge of languages (Catalan, Spanish, English and French in particular), the population's language attitudes when starting a conversation (and frequency of starting one in Catalan) and various opinions about Catalan, Aranese and other languages. Finally, the Survey also measures the use and knowledge of Aranese Occitan in Aran.

The Survey on Language Uses of the Population consists of official five-year statistics drawn up by Idescat and the Ministry of Language Policy.
