The Survey on Financing and Expenditure of Private Education provide information on the basic characteristics of the schools that offer regulated private education in Catalonia and compare them with those elsewhere in Spain.
The operation is based on a stratified sample design survey for nursery schools and private non-university schools, and a census survey for private universities.
Idescat publishes the results in three large groups (from 2004/2005 onwards):
- Pre-school education (nursery schools)
- Primary and Secondary education (non-university)
- Higher education (university)
Given the high volume of non-university education, this is the most detailed and conceptually disaggregated block.
This Survey is conducted every five years. However, this latest edition was delayed by one academic year due to the health crisis caused by Covid-19 and the difficulties associated with collecting data during the pandemic.
Tables showing the basic results, data on expenditure, funding, the sector's structure and, lastly, a varied set of indicators are provided.
For the academic years prior to 2004/2005, the results are available in PDF format. For the 1999/2000 academic year, the results tables are also available in Excel.
