Retail Trade Index. 05/2026

Idescat publishes for the first time the calendar and seasonally adjusted Retail Trade Index, which allows for the calculation of rates of change between months of homogeneous duration and composition and without seasonal fluctuations. This information complements that which was previously disseminated for the unadjusted index.

The general retail trade index excluding service stations at constant prices, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 4.1% year over year in Catalonia in May 2026. By type of product, according to the company's activity, food grew by 2.8% and the rest of products by 1.1%. In this same period, the general Retail Trade Index with service stations at constant prices increased by 2.8% compared to a year ago.

Compared to April, the general retail trade index at constant prices, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 0.5% and the general index excluding service stations, by 0.6%.
