The population of Catalonia on 1July 2025 as 8,154,627 inhabitants, representing an increase of 41,137 people during the first half of the year, according to provisional data. In year-over-year terms, compared to 1 July 2024, the growth is 87,173 inhabitants (1.1%).

By large age groups, during the first six months of 2025, the group aged 0 to 15 years decreased (−10,869 people). Conversely, increases were registered in the population aged 16 to 64 years (35,375) and that aged 65 years and over (16,631). Compared to a year earlier and in relative terms, the populations aged 0 to 15 years fell by 1.9%, while the population aged 16 to 64 years rose by 1.4% and that aged 65 years and over did so by 2.3%.

As of 1July 2025, the number of centenarians is estimated at 3,051, of whom 502 are men (16.5%) and 2,549 are women (83.5%). During the first half of 2025, the centenarian population increased by 134 persons, as there had been 2,917 centenarians (464 men and 2,453 women) as of 1 January 2025.

By provinces, the population increased in all four during the first half of 2025. Compared to a year earlier, and in relative terms, the largest increases were recorded in Tarragona and Lleida, with year-over-year growth rates of 2.2% and 1.4%, respectively.
