62.5% of the population aged 16 to 74 in Catalonia has shopped on the internet at some time during the last 3 months in 2024. This is 2.5 points more compared with the same period one year ago (60.0%). By age group, the younger age groups (up to 54 years of age) exceed the Catalan average for the percentage of people who have bought on the Internet during this period: 68.2% of the people in the 16-24 age group; 74.7% of the people in the 25-34 age group; 70.8% of the people in the 34-44 age group; and 66.6% of the people in the 44-54 age group.

Of those aged 16 to 74 who have made a purchase online in the last 3 months, 83% made a paid subscription or bought or downloaded a product through a website or app. 49.3% bought or downloaded tickets for events (concerts, cinema, sports, fairs, etc.) and 46.4% bought or subscribed to streaming or downloadable films or series (Netflix, HBO Max, Prime Video, etc.).

With regard to internet use, 97.0% of the people aged 16 to 74 have used Internet during the 3 months prior to the survey, and 96.4% have used it regularly, at least once a week. These data represent a increase of 0.2 and 0.4 points, respectively, compared to 2023.

21.5% of employed people have teleworked in 2024, 2.1 points less than in 2023 (19.4%). 18.8% have not, even though their job allowed them to do so, while 59.8% have not teleworked because their job did not allow them to. People who have teleworked have done, on average, 2.9 days of telework per week.

The percentage of children aged 10-15 who have used the Internet in the last 3 months decreased by 1.8 points, going from 95.7% in 2023 to 93.9% this year.

With regard to households' equipment, 86.1% had some kind of computer and 97.7% had access to broadband internet. 57.7% of households in Catalonia had a touchscreen tablet and 99.7% had a mobile phone.
