Foreign Trade according to Technological Content. Q1/2024

Catalonia exported industrial products worth 24,824.7 million euros in the second quarter of 2024, a figure that represents a decrease of 1.6% in relation to the same quarter of the previous year. Foreign sales show decreases in both levels of higher technological content. Products with a high technological content decreased by 8.9% year-over-year, since all product groups at this level decreased in exports. Medium-high level products decreased by 3.3% and the only group of this level that shows a decrease is that of electrical materials and equipment, machinery and vehicles (-6.5%). In contrast, low technology products increased by 3.5% and medium-low by 2.4%.

Catalonia imported industrial products worth 26,246.1 million euros in the second quarter of 2024, a figure that represents a year-over-year increase of 1.9%. By technological level, foreign purchases of high technological content are the only ones to decrease, by 6.5% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, while medium-high level imports increased by 2.4 %, low-medium by 1.2% and low-level by 7.2%.
