Maps for census tract groups of Catalonia 2022-2023

Idescat publishes the update for the geometries of the territorial nomenclature for census tract groups for the years 2022 to 2023, in Shapefile format.

It also publishes the geometry for 2014, previously unpublished, and the geometries for the years 2015 to 2021, previously published and now revised.

Each census tract group is made up of a set of whole contiguous census tracts, with similar socioeconomic characteristics. Census tract groups are territorial units with a balanced population, 9,000 inhabitants on average (ranging between 5,000 and 20,000 inhabitants in size).

The nomenclature for the census tract groups is Idescat's own creation for the production and dissemination of the Small Area Socioeconomic Index (IST) and can be applied to the statistical data sources that have information disaggregated by census tract. In addition to the IST, Idescat publishes by census tract groups the population of the Municipal Population Register classified by sex, and the Educational Attainment Statistics.
