Industrial Price Index. 04/2024

The industrial products price index (base 2021=100), which does not include energy, decreased by 0.5% in year-over-year terms in Catalonia in April 2024.

During the same period the industrial price index (which includes energy) dropped by 3.5% compared with the same month of the previous year. By large industrial sectors, energy prices decreased by 15.1% and those of intermediate goods by 4.2%, while prices of capital goods increased by 3.4% and those of consumer goods by 1.3%.

Moreover, by industrial divisions, the most significant decreases in prices were registered in industries of paper products (−6.0%), in metallurgy and manufacture of basic iron, steel and ferroalloy products and also in the wood and cork industry, except for furniture, basketry and spartanware (both with −3.4%). By contrast, the most significant increases in prices were registered in repair and installation of machinery and equipment (4.2%), manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (3.8%), and in manufacture of beverages (3.7%).
