- Professional that conducts insurance mediation activities without being bound by contractual ties to insurance companies, and offer independent, professional and impartial advisory services to those seeking cover for risks to themselves, their assets, their interests or their liabilities.
- Insurance premium
- Obligation corresponding to the insurance policy holder towards the provider covering the risk, or in other words, the price of the insurance. In financial terms, the premium is the insurance fee paid to the insurer for the service provided. In legal terms, payment of the premium is the basic obligation of an insurance policy holder and is a real, essential and typical element of the insurance contract.

Methodological aspects
Order ECO/326/2011, of November 7, on record books and the duty for private insurance and reinsurance intermediaries to provide statistical, accounting and business reports, published in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya no. 6015, of November 29, 2011, establishes that insurance intermediaries must present statistical and accounting details of their activity every year.
All intermediaries that, during a given year, are included in the Special Administrative Register of Insurance Intermediaries, Insurance Brokers and their Senior Officials, which is part of the Directorate General of Financial Politics, Insurance and Treasury, must present the forms stipulated by Order ECO/326/2011 via the Virtual Office of Insurance Intermediaries (MEDCAT).
