Definition of concepts

Stock market index
Indicator of the evolution of the payments of values exchanged on the stock market. It is calculated using the difference in payments over the period of reference and weighted by the different shares depending on their stock market capitalisation.
PER (Price-earning ratio)
Coefficient that is used to estimate the capacity that a company has to generate profits. It is obtained by dividing the quotation for a share by the net profit corresponding to each share for the fiscal year.
