CO₂ emissions derived from combustion are calculated in relation to annual GDP in chained volume (base 2015).

CO₂ emissions derived from combustion in the manufacturing sector are calculated in relation to the gross value added in the manufacturing sector in chained volume (base 2015).

Total CO₂ emissions from fuel are the sum of SNAP (Selected Nomenclature for Air Pollution) 01, 02, 03, 07 and 08 (except for 08 04 04, 08 05 02 and 08 05 04), which equates to the following sectors in the territory considered: electricity generation, oil refinery fuel, non-specific combustion in coal mining and in oil and gas extraction, combustion in residential, commercial and institutional sectors, transport (land, domestic aviation, domestic maritime, railways) and other types of transport (mobile machinery, agricultural, industrial and forestry, and maritime fishing).

CO₂ emissions derived from combustion attributed to the manufacturing sector correspond to code 03 in the SNAP (Selected Nomenclature for Air Pollution) classification and comprise emissions, in the territory considered, from the burning of fuels in the following sectors of activity: iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, chemicals, pulp, paper and printing, processing of food, beverages and tobacco, non-metallic minerals and others (manufacture of machinery, mining (excluding fuels)) and exploitation of quarries, wood and wood products, construction, textiles and leather, off-road vehicles and others

Total CO₂ emissions do not include international aviation or international maritime transport or emissions and absorptions due to land use, changes in land use and forestry.
