The number of companies with establishments in Catalonia stood at 618,781 as of 1 January 2025, 1.2% higher than it was the previous year, according to the Statistics on Companies and Establishments compiled by Idescat based on the INE's Central Business Register. As for the companies with the head office in Catalonia, the number was 610,062, which also means an increase of 1.2% as compared to the former year.

When analysing the evolution of the companies with establishments by sectors, they registered an annual increase in the services (1.6%) and the construction (0.2%), and a decrease in the industry (−2.3%). By numbers of employees, those with no employees increased by 14.4%, those with 50 to 199 employees did so by 1.1% and those with 200 employees and over by 5.1%. Conversely, those with 1 to 9 employees decreaded by 13.0% and those with 10 to 49 employees by 0.5%. By legal form the number of natural persons (1.0%) and private limited companies (2.5%) increased. By contrast, the number of public limited companies decreased by 2.4% and other legal forms decreased by 1.5%.

The number of legal units of companies with establishments in Catalonia was 637,591, 1.3% higher than the former year, and the number of legal units of companies with the head office in Catalonia was 624,462, which also represented an increase of 1.3%.

Regarding the establishments, the number was 713,505, which means an annual increase of 1.3%.
