The value of exports in Catalonia was 100,904.5 million euros in 2025, representing a year-over-year growth of 0.6%. Imports, with a value of 115,367.8 million euros, increased by 3.6%, according to provisional data.
As for exports by economic destination, sales of capital goods increased by 13.5% and those of consumer goods by 2.6%; whereas those of intermediate goods decreased by 2.0%. By geographical areas, sales to Asia increased by 9.8%, to the European Union by 0.8%, and to the rest of the world by 9.3%. In contrast, sales to America decreased by 9.5% and to other countries and territories in Europe (non-EU) by 0.4%.
By branches of economic activity, the increase in sales of electrical and electronic equipment (14.4%) and office, precision and optical equipment (13.4%) stood out. Conversely, the decrease in sales of mining, extraction and refined petroleum products (24.9%) was notable.
Regarding imports by economic destination, purchases of capital goods increased by 11.3% and those of consumer goods by 9.9%; whereas those of intermediate goods decreased by 0.8%. By geographical areas, purchases from America decreased by 6.7% and those from other countries and territories in Europe (non-EU) by 5.5%. In contrast, purchases from Asia grew by 5.4%, from the European Union by 4.9%, and from the rest of the world by 10.9%.
By branches of economic activity, the increase in purchases of electrical and electronic equipment (11.4%), office, precision and optical equipment (10.5%), and food products and beverages (10.2%) stood out. On the other hand, the decrease in purchases of mining, extraction and refined petroleum products (9.9%) was notable.
In december 2025 the value of exports in Catalonia was 7,572.2 million euros, representing a year-over-year decrease of 1.3%. Imports, with a value of 8,589.5 million euros, increased by 2.1%.
As for exports by economic destination, sales of intermediate goods decreased by 7.0%. Conversely, those of capital goods increased by 13.8% and those of consumer goods by 4.0%. By geographical areas, those to America decreased by 26.8% and to other countries and territories in Europe (non-EU) by 10.3%. In contrast, sales to Asia increased by 8.9%, to the European Union by 5.2%, and to the rest of the world by 7.4%. By branches of economic activity, the decrease in sales of mining, extraction and refined petroleum products (36.5%) and chemical industries (17.7%) stood out. In contrast, the increase in sales of machinery and equipment (25.6%) was notable.
Regarding imports by economic destination, purchases of consumer goods increased by 4.9% and those of intermediate goods by 4.6%, whereas those of capital goods decreased by 17.2%. By geographical areas, purchases from the European Union grew by 2.2%, from other countries and territories in Europe (non-EU) by 1.6%, and from the rest of the world by 53.6%. In contrast, those from Asia decreased by 5.0% and from America by 2.1%. By branches of economic activity, the increase in purchases of mining, extraction and refined petroleum products (30.1%), electrical and electronic equipment (12.9%), and basic metals and metal products (11.8%) stood out. In contrast, the decrease in purchases of office, precision and optical equipment (39.4%) was notable.
