Economically Active Population Survey. 2025

The average unemployment rate in Catalonia stood at 8.4% in 2025, with a total of 357,000 unemployed people, representing a 4.5% decrease compared to 2024, according to the Economically Active Population Survey. The number of households with all active members being unemployed was 104,800 (3.3% of all Catalan households), representing a year-over-year decrease of 1.5%.

As for young people under the age of 25, the average annual unemployment rate fell by 3 points compared to 2024, standing at 19.1% of the economically active population aged 16 to 24.

The employed population in Catalonia increased by 2.3% year over year, reaching an average of 3,914,600 people, of whom 646,100 had been in their current job for less than one year. The employment rate among those aged 20 to 64 stood at 76.4% in 2025, 0.7 points higher than the previous year.

The population aged 20 to 24 with secondary level education decreased by 0.9 points to 79.2%. Meanwhile, the population aged 30 to 34 with tertiary level education grew 1.5 points compared with 2024, standing at 57.1% (51.8% in the case of men and 62.7% in the case of women).

Early leavers from education and training decreased by 0.2 points, affecting 13.5% of the population aged 18 to 24. The percentage of the population aged 25 to 64 who participated in education and training increased by 0.2 points compared with 2024, standing at 16.2%.
