The number of people in Catalonia who had some sort of administrative relationship with Social Security (whether as contributors, pensioners or residents) was 6,147,600 in 2024. Of these, 4,518,300 were registered for paid employment for at least one day, a figure which is 4.2% more than the previous year. Of these 4,518,300 people, 2,783,400 were registered for paid employment all year, 2.9% more than in 2023.

The number of people that received an unemployment benefit or subsidy for at least one day was 678,025 in 2024, a figure which represents a increase of 3.8% compared to 2023. Of these people, 58,925 were beneficiaries all year. As for the receipt of contributory pensions, 1,664,175 people were beneficiaries at some point during the year and, of these, 1,437,925 were beneficiaries all year.
