Indicators of Service Sector Activity. Indexes of Production and Turnover. Q1/2024

The Production Index in the Service Sector (IPROSS) (base 2021=100) decreased by 0.8% on year-over-year basis in Catalonia in the first quarter of 2024. Furthermore, the Turnover Index (IASSVN) also showed an increase of 0.5% compared to a year ago, since the other services (this is to say, non-commercial ones) increased by 4.3%, although trade decreased by 1.7%. Within the other services, the most significant increases were in accommodation and food service activities (10.3%) and in administrative and support service activities (7.7%).

By publishing the data for the first quarter of 2024 on base year 2021, Idescat is complying with European Commission Implementing Regulation 2020/1197 on short-term business statistics, which establishes a change of basis in 2021. The linked sets of the indexes in base year 2021 have been published as of the first quarter of 2005.
