Methodological note

The gross death rate (GDR) is based on the ratio between the number of deaths in a period and the average population for the same period, generally expressed per 1,000 inhabitants.

The data for Catalonia is calculated using population estimates and Natural population movement data. As of 2012 onwards, the statistics on mortality include deaths of people resident in Catalonia which take place in other autonomous communities.
