Methodological note

The Industrial Price Index (IPRI) is a short-term indicator which measures short-term changes in the price of industrial products manufactured and sold in the domestic market (products intended for export are not taken into account) in the first stage of commercialisation, that is, the ex-factory sale prices, excluding transport and commercialisation expenses and invoiced VAT.

The IPRI is governed by Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 of the European Parliament and of the Council on European business statistics and Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 laying down technical specifications.

The Industrial Price Index is calculated for the large industrial sectors based on the classification of Main Industrial Groupings (MIGs) in Annex II of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 of 30 July referred to above.

Idescat includes a disaggregation by capital and intermediate goods for Catalonia. It also provides it for the four sections of the CCAE-2009 and the divisions within manufacturing industries.

The primary source of information is a continuous monthly survey carried out by the INE.
